A project that is organized by Library Aid Africa in partnership with the Goethe-Institut – will kick start this year in July. The online initiative, which started in 2018, uses social media to create awareness about the importance of libraries as spaces for reading and learning. #libraryselfie2020 will take place in nine African countries: Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Namibia & South Africa.
Young African Library Leaders Fellowship
Young African Library Leaders Fellowship seeks to develop and nurture 10,000 young library leaders in Africa by the end of 2030. Young leaders within the ages of 18 to 35 will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to contribute meaningfully and actively to sustainable development plans in Africa. Thereby driving advocacy, projects and policy reforms for libraries in African communities.
The YALLF in its first year will build capacity of 20 emerging young library leaders from across Africa through collaborative learning approaches.
The fellowship will provide platforms where young library leaders in Africa will be engaged with practical approaches, discussions and interactive sessions on how they can drive progress across the Sustainable Development plans through equitable access to information.
Based on the Young African Librarians Trend Survey conducted by Library Aid Africa, course module for the 2020 cohort will focus on media and informational literacy, advocacy, programs, communication skills and capacity on how libraries can support sustainable development plans. The combination of these skills will improve the capacity of young librarians in Africa to facilitate local impacts targeted at improving access to information and knowledge for all through functional and efficient libraries.
Virtual Consultation on Post COVID-19 Library Services Delivery in Africa
COVID-19 Pandemic has caused closure of physical spaces globally, to which physical library spaces are amongst the affected. To this, Library Aid Africa commenced the Virtual Consultation on Post COVID – 19 Library Services Delivery in Africa with the view to connect librarians to learn, share experience and best practices on how to address concerns and emerging issues being faced by libraries, librarians and library users due to the global pandemic.

Inspire Us Collection
September – November 2019
Library Aid Africa in collaboration with Worldreader launched Inspire Us Project: an initiative that leverages mobile technology and literature to redefine gender stereotypes and boost women’s and girls’ empowerment and assertiveness through a digital collection of books. The collection, encompassing fiction and non-fiction, include stories that clearly articulate women as protagonists, change agents, and leaders of the future. The project also serves to seed a broader conversation about gender equality and women’s empowerment issues in West Africa.

Seasonal TV Series
A Seasonal TV Series designed to educate the populace about the importance of libraries to societal development. It featured documentaries, interviews with authors, librarians, publishers etc, where discussions and feasible solution were proffered to resuscitate libraries.
It was broadcasted on Osun State Broadcasting Corporation Television (OSBC TV) and STARTIMES Channel 113 for 3 consecutive quarters.
