Young African Library Leaders Fellowship
Alumni Check-In: David Koech
Library Aid Africa reconnected with David Koech, a fellow from the 2020 cohort of the Young African Library Leaders Fellowship from Kenya, who shared how the fellowship continues to shape his professional journey.
During his fellowship, David's capstone project focused on user engagement, accessibility including sign language training, and digital literacy programs designed to bridge the digital divide in his community. Today, he has taken those foundations even further by establishing the Library Matters Initiative Africa, an organisation dedicated to facilitating access to information through strategic collaborations across the continent.
David also serves as a panelist in webinars focused on UNESCO Open Educational Resources recommendations and the role of libraries as a public good in Africa, demonstrating that the impact of the YALLF fellowship extends far beyond graduation.
