Young African Library Leaders Fellowship

Alumni Check-In: Emmanuel Momoh

  • Across Africa

As part of the YALLF Alumni Check-In series, Library Aid Africa reconnected with Emmanuel Momoh, a fellow from the 2020 cohort, four years after completing the Young African Library Leaders Fellowship. Emmanuel shared how the program remains a cornerstone of his professional life and continues to shape his work.

Today, Emmanuel serves in a school library where he mentors learners to develop lifelong independent learning habits. He also volunteers with the Global Schools Program under the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, training educators across Africa on integrating the SDGs into their curricula. In addition, he contributes to the Aflia-OER community of practice, focusing on early childhood development and open-access resources.

For Emmanuel, sustainable libraries in Africa are built on three things: strategic partnerships with stakeholders, continuous investment in library professionals as the true engine of development, and modern infrastructure equipped with the ICT tools communities need to thrive in the 21st century.
