Library Internet Governance Ambassadors Program

Library Internet Governance Ambassadors: First Cohort Completes Program

  • Across Africa

In 2025, Library Aid Africa launched the Library Internet Governance Ambassadors Program, welcoming its first cohort of 19 librarians from seven African countries. The program was designed to bridge the gap between library services and the rapidly evolving digital landscape, equipping library professionals with the knowledge and tools to become informed advocates for digital inclusion and internet governance.

The impact of the program was felt immediately. Fellows highlighted sessions on cybersecurity and regulatory dimensions as particularly transformative, offering practical solutions to complex, real-world challenges. Learning how the internet works in relation to libraries opened new perspectives for these ambassadors, giving them the confidence to guide their communities through an increasingly digital world.

By investing in this cohort, Library Aid Africa is ensuring that libraries across Africa are not just custodians of information, but active participants in shaping the digital future of their communities.
