Young African Library Leaders Fellowship

World Youth Skills Day: Reflecting on YALLF’s Progress

  • Across Africa

On World Youth Skills Day 2024, Library Aid Africa paused to reflect on the progress of the Young African Library Leaders Fellowship and the transformation it has driven across the continent.

Since its inception, the fellowship has trained and empowered over 100 young library leaders between the ages of 18 and 35, building a cross-border network that now spans 19 African countries. Each cohort is equipped not just with technical skills but with the leadership, digital fluency, and community engagement capabilities needed to transform libraries into vibrant, inclusive spaces.

This investment in the next generation of library professionals is central to Library Aid Africa's broader mission: ensuring that libraries across Africa become the beating heart of community progress and meaningful contributors to the Sustainable Development Goals.
