YALLF 2022 Spotlight: Shalom Yusuf

Shalom Yusuf, a 2022 fellow of the Young African Library Leaders Fellowship from Nigeria, brings a bold technological vision to his work as a library professional. For Shalom, the fellowship was an opportunity to shift the public perception of both library services and the librarians who deliver them.

He believes that library services extend far beyond the physical walls of any building, and that librarians are not book keepers but vital information specialists and community pillars. Through the fellowship, he sharpened his use of information technology as a tool for advocacy, networking, and innovative service delivery. His commitment is to show communities across Nigeria and beyond that the library, when reimagined, is one of the most powerful institutions a society can have.
