Library Aid Africa, harnesses digital technology and community engagement approaches to transform libraries into vibrant spaces Over the past five years, the impact of our work has spread across 22 African countries, working collaboratively with in-country library partners. The continental focus of our work presents a unique opportunity to strategically collaborate with key stakeholders in the library ecosystem across African countries.
Role Description
The Partnership and Business Development Associate will support the organization in advancing strategic business and funding goals. This role focuses on enhancing our sustainability, building robust partnerships, increasing visibility of our programs, and securing resources to scale our impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify grant opportunities, prepare compelling proposals and fundraising materials, and coordinate proposal development processes in collaboration with program, finance, and communications colleagues
- Contribute to sustainability strategy by working with colleagues to design sustainability mechanisms, analyze business models, and support monitoring and reporting of outcomes.
- Identify and engage strategic partnerships with NGOs, government agencies, private sector actors, and philanthropic institutions in collaboration with the broader team.
- Develop and maintain partnership databases, relationship management systems, and collaboration frameworks together with colleagues to strengthen engagement.
- Represent the organization in external meetings, forums, and networking events while coordinating with internal teams for alignment and follow-up.
- Design and execute strategies for revenue generation through programs, informed by market and stakeholder research conducted with cross-functional teams.
- Support the development and scaling of income-generating initiatives aligned with the organization’s mission by working closely with program and operations teams.
- Collaborate on marketing and communications by producing brochures, promotional materials, and digital content with the team to ensure consistent messaging and highlight impact.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Development Studies, Communications, International Relations, or a related field is required.
- Experience in partnership development, fundraising, and grant writing within the non-profit or social impact sector is desirable.
- Ability to prepare grant proposals and funding applications with an understanding of donor expectations and reporting requirements.
- Experience in creating marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, or presentations is valuable.
- Exposure to sustainability initiatives or income-generating programs is an added advantage.
- Strong communication, research, organizational, and digital skills support effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
- Motivated, adaptable, and reliable, with eagerness to learn, openness to feedback, and commitment to growth and respectful collaboration.
