Library Aid Africa Launches the Library Digital Inclusion Project 2026
June 22, 2026 | 2 mins
One common reality for African libraries is the evolving role of librarians, which requires continuous personal and professional development, as well as a readiness to innovate to meet the dynamic needs of the people they serve. As libraries work to support education, literacy, digital inclusion, and community development with limited means, they need to adopt new ways to strengthen their services, broaden their impact, and respond effectively to the diverse needs of their communities.
The Library Digital Inclusion Project is designed to support library staff to develop programming and capacity-building opportunities that will place libraries at the heart of digital inclusion efforts in their local communities. Through a series of workshops and co-design sessions, selected libraries will strengthen their skills and design and implement Library Digital Inclusion Projects across any of the three project tracks: (i) Digital literacy (ii) STEAM (iii) Information Integrity. This will also come with €1000 implementation support for each of the selected libraries.
The Library Digital Inclusion Project is supported by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) through its IFLA Impact and Innovation Fund. This support enables Library Aid Africa to strengthen the capacity of libraries to design and implement inclusive digital literacy, STEAM, and information integrity initiatives that respond to the needs of underserved communities across Africa.
