Product & Creative Designer
The Product & Creative Designer will work with the Library Aid Africa team in designing user-centered LibraryTech solutions, creating compelling visual communication materials, and producing engaging video content. The role is critical in strengthening the organization’s brand identity, improving user experience across digital platforms, and increasing engagement through impactful storytelling. The assignment requires a blend of creativity, technical design skills, and strategic thinking to ensure all outputs align with Library Aid Africa’s mission of improving access to learning and literacy resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Design
- Design user-centered interfaces for web and/or mobile platforms
- Develop wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
- Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs
- Improve usability and accessibility of existing digital products
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of design systems and UI standards
- Conduct basic user experience research where necessary
Creative Visual Design
- Develop visual content for campaigns, social media, and organizational communication
- Design marketing materials including posters, banners, infographics, and reports
- Ensure brand consistency across all digital and print platforms
- Translate concepts and ideas into visually compelling storytelling assets
- Support programs and tech teams with creative design direction and execution
Creative Video Design
- Conceptualize and edit video content for campaigns and storytelling across social media platforms (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, etc.), including the development of motion graphics and animated visuals where required.
- Collaborate with communications teams to translate messages into video narratives
Key Deliverables
The Product & Creative Designer will be expected to deliver:
- User flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity product designs.
- UX research and usability improvement recommendations.
- Developer-ready design specifications and design QA.
- Campaign, social media, infographic, report, and marketing visuals.
- Short-form videos, motion graphics, and animated visual assets.
- Maintenance of brand guidelines and design systems.
- Creative design support for programs, communications, and technology teams.
Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
- At least 2–5 years of relevant professional experience in product design, UI/UX, graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience designing web and/or mobile digital products, from wireframes and user flows to prototypes and high-fidelity designs.
- Strong experience with user-centered design, usability, accessibility, and basic UX research.
- Demonstrated experience developing visual identities, campaign materials, social media content, infographics, presentations, and reports.
- Experience producing and editing short-form video content, including motion graphics and animated visuals, is an advantage.
- Experience working with developers, product teams, communications teams, and programme teams to translate ideas into effective design solutions.
- Experience developing or maintaining design systems, UI standards, and brand guidelines.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating product design, creative visual design, and multimedia/video work.
- Experience working with technology, education, nonprofit, social impact, or development organisations is desirable.
